Long Island Residence

An off-season home for a professional athlete and his family, this Long Island project receives a sophisticated, fun and functional makeover. The owners were amazing, and open to taking design risks. The outcome was a unique, beautiful and fun space for the young, active owners to enjoy with family and friends during the off-season! The formal dining room was a focal point of the house. We covered the existing vaulted ceiling in black cork and gold wallpaper, giving the room a cozy and elegant feel. For the dining table, we selected a steel and repurposed oak table to match the industrial chandelier the owners’ had already purchased. To soften the room and add texture, we paired the dining set with unique black boucle dining chairs. We rounded out the room with a KMG designed custom, green emerald marble console and amazing rope sconces on each side of the wall. Outside of the dining room, we designed a Manhattan nightclub inspired powder room wrapped in black marble, walnut slatted ceiling and a custom half moon mirror - perfect for a photo moment! For the master suite, we centered the bedroom around a stunning new fireplace. Designed a floor-to-ceiling marble bathroom with dual floating sinks, steam shower and sauna and an incredible new hers/his walk-in Poliform closet. Upstairs in the loft we created a TV and poker room, along with a hidden, fully decked out gym to enable the owners to stay in peak shape. The ceiling trusses were wrapped in black wood, making them a stand out part of the room. We finished the space with a custom chandelier and an oak stained slatted wall hiding the gym behind.
